Dóra is a creative storyteller and entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in theater, television, and film.
She is the creator and writer (under the pseudonym Hekla Hólm) of the tv-drama series Húsó (The School of Housewives). A story is inspired by Dóra´s own personal experience as a student in the school (see highlights on Dóra´s instagram).
Húsó was nominated for the Nordic Series Script Award in 2025.
Dóra co-wrote, co-produced and directed Iceland´s most popular TV-show, the one hour-long annual satirical comedy sketch TV show “Áramótaskaupið" in 2022 and she was head-writer of show in 2017 and 2019. The show won the Icelandic Film Academy Awards (Edda ) for best comedy show. "Áramótaskaupið" is watched by over 90% of Iceland’s population every New Year's Eve since 1966, broadcast on RÚV, the national public broadcaster. She co-wrote "Stella Blómkvist 2," nominated for the Edda awards for best script in 2022. In 2017, Dora co-produced, co-wrote and co-directed an hour of comedy TV content for Red Nose Day in support of UNICEF.
Dora has performed as an actress in numerous stage productions, TV shows, advertisements and films since her graduation from the Theater department of Iceland´s Academy of the Arts, where Dóra regularly teaches. Her directorial work for theater includes "The Flick" by Annie Baker at The Reykjavík City Theater in 2017.
Dora is the founder of Iceland´s first improvisational theater company
Improv Iceland (est. 2015).
In the recent years she has delivered talks for over 100 companies and organizations in the recent years, most recently at The Wellness Economic Forum in Reykjavik. In these sessions, she shares how the principles of improv can be applied to enhance wellbeing and provide valuable tools for collaboration, communication, and maximizing creativity in various settings.
Dóra founded Djók Productions in 2023.
