At the beginning of February, the TV series Húsó was made available again on RÚV, the national broadcaster, with an updated credit list. For the first time, more than two years after the show’s premiere — when I was not credited at all — I am now credited as “created by”, “story by”, “written by” and “executive producer”.
Following this, Nordisk Film & TV Fund updated its pages and added my name and pseudonym as a nominated writer for the Nordisk Series Script Awards, which were presented a year ago.

These updates were made without a court ruling or a settlement agreement, after a three-year difficult process during which I have defended my statutory authors’ rights. This is an important step, although the current credit list still does not fully reflect my contribution.
The matter is not yet fully resolved. Credits have still not been updated across all platforms. A formal claim for payment and damages has been sent to the producer, and the deadline for response has now passed.
The production company Glassriver is now owned by a bank. At the same time, I have still not been paid for my contribution to the work nor received compensation for the damage this situation has caused. This naturally raises questions about how authors are ensured payment when projects receiving public funding are produced.
The legal costs I have incurred in connection with this case are now approaching three million ISK.
Next steps are currently under consideration.
Personally, I want to focus my energy on new creative projects and constructive collaboration in the coming months.
