What happens when a writer, director, and actor demands transparency, accountability, and respect for statutory authors’ rights in projects that are largely or entirely funded by public money?

 

This work is based on the author’s own experience within the Icelandic film and television industry, with a particular focus on the events surrounding the TV series Húsó and Áramótaskaupið 2022.

 

Drawing on quantitative data, academic theory, dated documents, and other source material, the book demonstrates that these events do not constitute isolated incidents but reflect systemic patterns shaping power, access to public funding, and whose voices are amplified or excluded within Icelandic cultural production.
