The TV series Húsó won for Best Screenplay and Best Scripted TV Series of 2024.
“…but maybe the strangest thing about these television awards is that, what… they’re not shown on television?” – Símon Birgisson (Menningarvaktin

I am deeply grateful for the recognition. I have never felt such a deep and personal connection to any project I´ve worked on before. The series was inspired by my own experience as a single mother and student at the school after completing rehab.

Ragnar Eldur, my son, 10 years old, at Húsó.
So much has changed since then… and yet, some things have not.
I have made it a habit to create a manifesto with my collaborators at the beginning of creative projects – a way to make sure the group’s vision and direction are aligned.
From the Húsó manifesto:
Dramedy
Explore and ask questions about: home, family, gender, addiction, trauma, traditions, feminism, communication, relationships
Not a dark and tragic addiction story
Funny, truthful, original, sincere, warmhearted
Collaboration:
Trust
Honesty
Writers stand together
I want to dedicate the award for Best Screenplay to:
The silenced housewives,
those suffering from addiction,
and those who lost their lives too soon,
those who are in recovery,
those who have endured any kind of violence, bullying,
silencing, or exclusion,
To those living in exile,
And to those who never got to tell their story.
I believe you.

Silence protects perpetrators but torments survivors.
